Matt’s Review: Dark Tower 4.5 – “The Wind Through the Keyhole”

This review has been a longtime coming, but not nearly as long as this book has been. As a fan of the Dark Tower series, any amount of time is too long to wait for another adventure with the Ka’ Tet. That being said, it should be pretty obvious that this is a good review.

First off, let me start by stating that this review is a review of the book in its audiobook format. Some would say that there’s no difference… I know some that would argue that point (looking at you Honk :P). I KID! I KID!

*NOTE* IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THROUGH THE DARK TOWER SERIES, I SUGGEST YOU STOP READING THIS NOW. THERE WILL BE SPOILERS OF MOST OF THE BOOKS THROUGHOUT THIS REVIEW, AND I DON’T WANT TO RUIN IT FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT THIS FAR DOWN THE PATH YET, IF YA KENNIT.

*FURTHER NOTE* AFTER WRITING THIS REVIEW, I REALIZED THAT THERE ARE QUITE A FEW REFERENCES TO OTHER THINGS WITHIN POP CULTURE AND NERD CULTURE THAT ARE NOT NECESSARILY RELATED TO THE BOOK. I USED THEM IN THE NAME OF HUMOR. SORRY IF THESE ARE LOST ON YOU, BUT I AM REFUSING TO OMIT THEM BECAUSE THE PEOPLE THAT GET THEM WILL LOVE IT.

Stephen King A/V Round-Up

Above, is the trailer for the “N.” motion comic. It’s a great story, and if you don’t want to dig up the short story, comic books or audiobook, then this is a great way to check it out! I made a YouTube playlist that includes every episode of the series. You can find that by clicking here.

Above is a really rad trailer for Stephen King and Peter Straub’s “The Talisman.” This movie was never made, which sucks because this actually looks really cool!

Reelz Channel put up a video about the top 10 Stephen King movies.

Here’s a sample reading from King’s upcoming Dark Tower novel, “The Wind Through the Keyhole”

For the final portion of this round-up, I would like to introduce you to a new King fan blog and podcast that is out there called Discordia 19. It’s a good listen and I suggest you check it out!

WOAH! That Was THAT Dude? – Wil Wheaton

Trailer for Wil Wheaton’s web show, “Table Top,” on the “Geek and Sundry” Network

I thought it might be fun to do some posts that are kind of similar to the “Where are they now?” posts that I’ve been doing here, but with a little different spin. This is going to be a series of posts that came from my watching Stephen King Movies and going “I wonder who these people are?” and then looking them up on IMDb. This is the first of those posts, and I wanted to discuss Wil Wheaton and why you may know him.

As you should know by now, I am a turbo-nerd. I am also a huge fan of nerd culture celebrities, mostly due to the fact that nerd culture celebs are generally smart and articulate… in other words, they mock the Kardashians rather than kissing their asses. I am a huge fan of Wil Wheaton.  I, unfortunately, have not had the pleasure of meeting him in person, but he seems like a genuinely nice person. As a member of nerd culture, I like having great people representing us, people that are very approachable and friendly. People like Wil Wheaton, Chris Hardwick and Felicia Day are wonderful examples of this.

Stephen King’s “Bag of Bones” is Now Available on Netflix

[youtube http://youtu.be/R3VB_EKDUv8]

This is just a short informational post to let you know that A&E’s mini-series “Stephen King’s Bag of Bones” that aired on A&E back in November, is now available on Netflix. It is available both as streaming video or as DVD home delivery. The series is not available for purchase from Amazon or iTunes, yet, although you can pre-order it (link below) from Amazon.

This makes me want to bump this up to the next episode of the Stephen King Movie Club. Well, not the next. “The Night Flier” episode is already written and the recording is mostly done. It will be finished very soon (my prop budget ran out before I could finish the recording) and I think the episode after that should be on “Bag of Bones,” since its now readily accessible on Netflix.  Keep your eyes peeled here or on the social network pages for more updates about those soon to come episodes of the Stephen King Movie Club.
